 I am deeply honored to introduce this year’s first issue of the African Journal of Business and Economic Research (AJBER). The current issue features ten articles covering various African countries, and one book review. Topics covered addressed pertinent issues in Africa such as fiscal and monetary policy, health expenditure, economic growth, stock markets, entrepreneurship and marketing. While I am delighted to present this issue, it comes at a very challenging time, not only for Africa, but the world as a whole. The coronavirus also known as COVID-19 poses significant threat to the functioning of the global economy. The effects of the shutdowns implemented by various countries in an endeavor to limit the spread of the virus will be severely felt, especially by African economies.
