 The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has continued to wreak havoc on all people in the world regardless of their gender, creed, race, or class. It has also caused massive disruptions to all social, cultural, political, and economic activities and ruined the livelihoods of many people, especially in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Despite the availability of vaccines, many countries are contending with insufficient supplies and low acceptance rates, leaving many people vulnerable to new waves of the pandemic. Governments across the world have been forced to renew some of the previous restrictions to flatten the curve of infections. Closing learning institutions, businesses, workplaces, recreational centres and activities and confining citizens to their homes has had an unprecedented negative effect on economies, markets, and supply chains, leading to skyrocketing rates of unemployment and poverty. This is the last issue for 2020 and marks the end of my first year as guest editor.  African Journal of Gender, Society and Development (AJGSD), is proud to release the current issue of the quarterly publication. Over the past eight year, the journal has strived to contribute to the intellectual discourse surrounding various topical issues on gender, information, and development in Africa, by publishing and disseminating knowledge in articles by students, practitioners, and academics and established scholars based within and outside the African continent.  By any measurable standard, the journal has been successful: it has seen a constant increase in the number of manuscript submissions and diversity of published articles as well as a steady rise in readership, and citations of the published papers.  By providing an outlet for scholars, especially young and upcoming African scholars, the journal is helping to build the stock of knowledge about emerging gender, information, and developmental issues in Africa.
