Call For Paper - African Journal of Gerontology, Population and Demographic Studies (AJGPDS)

Call for papers

Vol. 1 Combined Nos. 1 &2, (December, 2026)

Recognizing Africa's rapidly evolving demographic landscape—including population growth, urbanization, migration, fertility transition, increasing longevity, and population ageing—the journal seeks to foster evidence-based scholarship that informs policy formulation, programme design, and academic discourse.

The journal welcomes original research articles, review papers, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, methodological papers, policy analyses, short communications, case studies, and book reviews addressing, but not limited to, the following thematic areas:
•Social, psychological, and biological aspects of aging and gerontology in African societies
•Fertility patterns, reproductive health, and family structure transitions
•Mortality rates, public health burdens, and epidemiological transitions
•Internal and international migration, urbanization, and displacement dynamics
•Population policy, national development planning, and demographic dividends
•Methodological innovations in demographic data collection and census analysis

While the journal places particular emphasis on African populations and development contexts, it welcomes comparative and international studies that advance understanding of demographic processes, ageing, and population change globally. The journal encourages interdisciplinary research that bridges theory, policy, and practice and contributes to achieving inclusive, equitable, and sustainable development.
