The editorial team would like to once again thank authors who submitted papers to be considered for publication in this second issue of the African Journal of Democracy and Elections Research (AJDER).

AJDER will continue promoting scholarship in the chosen an area of democracy and elections research. Priority will always be given to the publication peer reviewed, original, high quality, well researched articles which discuss results that add value and new knowledge in the area of democracy and elections research. Elections legitimize governments. Regular, free, fair, credible and peaceful elections do not only promote democratic values such as popular accountability and transparency but also citizen engagement, and participation in democratic consolidation process. Therefore, in this publication authors not only clarify key concepts which underpin democracy but also discuss research findings relating to election issues in various countries notably Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Zimbabwe. The editorial team would like to encourage researchers and scholars including practitioners and students, policy makers and implementers to submit their quality articles to the African Journal of Democracy and Elections Research (AJDER) for possible publication.
