In line with the mandate of AFFRIKA, and underscoring the foci of the journal, it is my profoundest joy that we publish this Edition with topical discourses that highlight core issues that borders on the character of Africa - when adequately utilised – that constitutes immanent potential of advancement. The Edition’s opening discourses on undergraduate political participation in the University of Ghana; attitude of academics towards gender equality in higher schools; and law, politics and society as elites mechanisms of governing address fundamental issues of progressing democratization. The scholarly excursion into the Ifa corpus is particularly an interesting contribution in this Edition because it clearly demonstrates that Africa had evolved a body of scientific knowledge system that can explain socio-political phenomena. Interestingly also are the articles that highlight gender-based violence, women-driven community development activities and rural women empowerment to the gender debate. Specifically, four of the scholarly paper featured in this Edition speaks to the issue of human capital development through training and re-training as well as on managing the English language learning module and classroom environment for optimal production of the intelligentsia Africa requires for her renaissance. The last two papers derive from ensuring to understand the influence of international norms and practices on Africa’s higher education and the continent’s place in the scheme of the United Nations politicking. All in all, the contributions in this Edition are in furtherance of the dialectics of Africa’s emancipation from the imperialism of knowledge, theory and practice. I want to appreciate reviewers of the papers for a job well done and also to commend the authors for their timely submission of their papers after attending to the review comments, suggestions and corrections judiciously. Most certainly, the contributions in this Edition will instigate further studies interrogating those potential appeals of Africa that needs to be deeply examined because they will necessitate development.
