For us in humanities, it is ever important to continue to interrogate social issues, expand knowledge periodically and strive to solve social problems. The Gender, Information and Development has again done this through the current edition. The journal has always strived to represent the peak of refined scholarship not only in African but also around the world. This is done through periodic systemic inquiry to world views on an array of issues that bother on global challenges with a view to stimulating and entrenching research issues.

From this point knowledge based generalizations are made, especially from intrinsically and inherently African viewpoints; those which promote indigenous ways of thinking, knowledge systems and other things that are based on social realities. Beyond Africa and African affairs, Gender, Information and Development also strives to engender high quality international scholarly excellence that focuses on the research needs of the diverse cross disciplinary subjects in the social sciences, humanities and the arts.

The foregoing is the same tradition that has been followed in this edition. We have selected high quality, well focused and well written articles that are worthy of international circulation after being peered reviewed. Issues discussed by the essays and articles selected for this edition cut across all walks of lives, and are tailored towards ensuring that the world becomes a better place.

It thus gives me a great pleasure to present yet another Issue of the Journal, Gender, Information and Development for the month of June. This is a continuous attempt towards exploring and interrogating social issues that confront Africa and the entire world, in order to work around fashioning pragmatic solutions to them.
