Africa’s ecological future depends on today's choices. As environmental degradation, climate change, and inequality intensify, this volume explores how African nations can pursue development that protects ecosystems and improves lives. Drawing on contributions presented at Veritas University, Abuja’s 2026 conference, Africa’s Eco-Future and Sustainable Development: Innovative Perspectives on Environmental Stewardship, the book brings together research, policy analysis and practical proposals from scholars, practitioners and development partners. Its chapters examine climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy, biodiversity conservation and sustainable urban planning, among other priorities. Across these themes, contributors consider how approaches grounded in Africa’s distinct ecological, cultural, and economic realities can advance the global Sustainable Development Goals. By connecting academic insight with policy and practice, the proceedings argue that environmental stewardship is essential to development planning. They highlight the value of interdisciplinary collaboration and partnerships, and offer ideas for policymakers and development actors. This timely collection invites readers to imagine and help build a resilient, inclusive, and prosperous African future.
