Gender, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion for Sustainable Education Leadership in Africa examines the policies and practices of equity, equality, diversity, and inclusion (EEDI) as well as leadership, and management in the higher education systems in Africa. The book links these to several of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as SDG5: (gender equality), SDG8: (decent work and economic growth), and SDG10: (reduced inequality). It highlights several themes including (i) conceptualization of EEDI policies and practices, (ii) female participation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), (iii) gender- based violence, stigmatization, and stereotypes, (iv) gender bias in academic and research practices, and (v) gender and leadership styles. It also offers recommendations on how to reduce or eliminate discriminatory practices relating to gender, disability, ethnicity, and religion in Africa.
