Igba Boyi: A Study of the Igbo Apprenticeship Scheme in Onitsha Marketsis the product of an expansive, eighteen months’ study on the famed Igbo apprenticeship scheme, popularly known as Igba Boyi, using Onitsha markets (the hub of Igbo business and entrepreneurship) as the study area. The study adopted a concurrent mixed-method research design, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative approaches to data collection and analysis. It offers new insights into the state and emerging trajectory of the Igba Boyi scheme and recommends a holistic re-envisioning and re-branding of the practice such as a shift from its current excessive informality to a semi-formal structure that will accommodate the best practices from the old and new worlds of entrepreneurship.
