African Journal of Democracy and Election Research (AJDER), a bi-annual, peer-reviewed and indexed academic journal published by Adonis & Abbey Publishers

 is calling for papers for its debut issue in June 2021. The journal provides an avenue for policymakers, academics and other professionals working on democracy and elections processes in Africa to share their research accomplishments, practical experiences and perspectives. The journal accepts papers all-year round.

Some of the themes to be covered by the journal include:

•Perspectives on Democracy and Elections in Africa
•African exceptionalism  and Africanist notion of democracy – how relevant are they in today’s  Africa?
•Democracy and democratization processes in Africa  – case studies 
•Electoral reforms and democratic consolidation 
•Challenges of institutionalizing democracy and election processes in Africa
•Quest for tenure elongation, Constitutional coups and the future of democracy in Africa
•Party competition, elections and democracy
•Nexus between internal party democracy and democratic consolidation
•The politics of the opposition and the future of democracy in Africa
•Electoral violence
•Are there viable alternatives to electoral democracy in Africa?
•Political leadership and democratic outcomes in Africa

Contributors are invited to submit original contributors, which are not being considered for publication elsewhere. Articles not dealing with Africa, but whose themes could be of relevance to African scholarship, are also welcome.
