CALL FOR PAPERS: JOURNAL OF NATION-BUILDING AND POLICY STUDIES, VOLUME 4 NUMBER 1 (June 2020)

 

It is our pleasure to share the First Call for Contributions for the Journal of Nation-building and Policy Studies, Volume 4 Number 1 (June 2020). The Journal is a bi-annual peer-reviewed academic and policy-oriented periodical of the published by Adonis & Abbey Publishers Ltd. The Journal is designed to deepen critical thinking and publish quality academic and policy-oriented work with depth of research across disciplines relating to the crucial issues on nation-building and public policy in Africa. We also welcome comparative studies that provide insight into nation-building and successful policy that strengthen the process. Articles not dealing with Africa, but whose focus align with the call and could be of relevance to African scholarship, are also welcome.  

The Journal of Nation-building and Policy Studies is indexed by SABINET, EBSCO, ProQuest and IBSS. 

This call has a thematic focus on identity, identity politics, the politics of inclusion and exclusion, and the implications of these on democratic consolidation, development, peace, and security; all in relation to nation-building in African countries. Here are some specific focus areas to serve as a guide and note that the papers must make links to implications on nation-building:

 

i. The politics of identity in post-colonial states

ii. Identity in the context of democratisation in Africa

iii. Identity politics and electoral violence in Africa

iv. Critical perspectives on identify politics in African context

v. Violence, conflict, terrorism and identity in Africa

vi. Identity and constitutional development in Africa      

vii. Peacebuilding and post conflict reconciliation in Africa

viii. Comparative studies on identity in Africa

ix. Conceptual and theoretical explorations and critiques of identity in Africa

 

In this call we also welcome policy papers from practitioners and academics within the thematic focus. Please see the submission guidelines for details of the requirements and format. We would be obliged if you would consider making a submission and/or disseminate this to your respective networks. Please note that effective from February 1 2020, Journal of Nation-building and Policy Studies (JoNPS) has introduced a publication fee, refer to the submission guidelines for details.

Deadline: 30th April 2020

Word count for articles: 4,000-6,000 words

Word count for policy papers: 2,500 – 3,500 words
